Underwater Navigator Specialty
The purpose of the PADI Underwater Navigator specialty course is to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of underwater navigation. The Underwater Navigator specialty course is intended to serve as a safe and supervised introduction to navigation techniques used in the underwater environment. Training emphasizes fun and safety. The goals of PADI Underwater Navigator training are: To develop the student's practical knowledge of underwater navigation and to enable the student to plan, organize and make dives using natural and compass navigation techniques. Prerequisite certification for participation is the PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent rating. Minimum age requirement is 12 years.
Knowledge development is accomplished through reading assignments in PADI's Underwater Navigator Manual, by viewing the Underwater Navigator video and through instructor led discussions. Openwater training consists of three scuba dives with no more than 2 dives per day.
Our fee for this course includes: Underwater Navigator Manual, all instructional fees, ID Photo, wall certificate, certification registration envelope, Positive Identification Certification card and miscellaneous handout materials. We highly recommend that at least two of the three training dives be conducted from a shore based location. Fees for shore based training dives are included in course price. Those opting for an optional offshore training dive will be charged an additional fee to cover charter expenses.
