PADI Multilevel Diver Specialty

Many dive sites, such as shipwrecks and walls, feature a large variety of depths. By starting deep and working gradually shallower (multilevel diving) divers may gain a substantial amount of bottom time. However, to take advantage of such opportunities, divers must use special dive planning equipment such as a dive computer or PADI's Wheel version of the Recreational Dive Planner.

The purpose of the PADI Multilevel Diver specialty course is to familiarize divers with the theory, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, hazards, benefits and enjoyment of multilevel diving with The Wheel and/or with modern dive computers. The goals of the PADI Multilevel Diver course are: To develop the student's knowledge of the theories behind dive tables, dive computers and multilevel diving; To enable the student to plan, organize and make safe multilevel no-decompression dives with The Wheel and/or modern dive computers; To ensure the student knows the most state-of- the-art recommendations for flying after diving, omitted decompression and the S.A.F.E. Diver program.

The prerequisite certification for the PADI Multilevel Diver course is PADI Open Water Diver or an equivalent rating. If training will be conducted deeper than 60fsw, the PADI Advanced Open Water or an equivalent is highly recommended. The Deep Diver rating is also recommended for any training deeper than 100 feet seawater. The minimum age for participation is 12 years.

The course consists of independent reading from The Recreational Diver's Guide to Decompression Theory, Dive Tables and Dive Computers; Two instructor led classroom discussions/lectures; And two training dives which may be conducted in one day. Olympus Dive Center's course fee includes:The Recreational Diver's Guide to Decompression Theory, Dive Tables and Dive Computers, all instructional fees, certification registration envelope, ID photo, Positive Identification Certification card, and miscellaneous handout materials. PADI's The Wheel and/or dive computer not included. Charter fees not included.
